New Mobile Mission Ministry

Updated: Jun 20

WE STARTED A NEW MINISTRY THAT TAKES PLACE ON THE LAST MONDAY OF EVERY MONTH! AS MOST OF YOU KNOW, WE HAVE THE BERRIEN COUNTY MISSION OPEN TWICE A WEEK (FOR NOW) WHERE THE COMMUNITY CAN DONATE AND SHOP. THE COMMUNITY HAS BEEN GENEROUS AND WE FOUND A NEED TO EXTEND THE MISSION DONATIONS. SOME WHO NEED ITEMS, ESPECIALLY CLOTHING AND BLANKETS, ARE LOCATED IN BENTON HARBOR WITH NO WAY TO GET TO OUR MISSION BUILDING IN STEVENSVILLE. WE DECIDED TO LOAD UP TUBS OF ITEMS (MOSTLY CLOTHING ITEMS) ON A TRAILER AND TAKE THE ITEMS TO THEM!

THIS LAST WEEK WAS THE SECOND TIME GOING OUT TO THE BENTON HARBOR soup kitchen to distribute items. There was a man there who was homeless and needed blankets for padding for his tent. He was so grateful that we came out to provide for his needs. Most of those who come to the mobile mission are men. Probably around 80% are men. They really need men's clothing around size 30-36 so if the men in your life need to clean out their closets, the mobile mission could use them. Our donation box located behind our church is always open!

Jesus tells us to help "the least of these" and this ministry reminds us of those words. When we help others, we are serving Christ. In bible times, churches helped the orphans, the widows, and those who needed help.

In years past, we have gone to africa, georgia, south dakota, and more to help others, which was an amazing experience, but our church had this desire to do missions work in our community. Through berrien county mission and now the mobile mission, we are serving our community right here!

This would be a perfect way to start serving without making a huge commitment since it only takes place once a month. It is just like a mini mission trip and you get to develop lasting relationships with those who are there. We invite anyone whether from other churches or groups to join this ministry because its such a special way to invest in the lives of others. Yes, we hand out clothing, but we also share love with our neighbors!
